There is no cost to participate in this event, however; each couple must have a valid WA State Marriage License. Rev. Stacey K. Miles, owner of Uniquely, I Do has an approved application from the Guinness Book of World Records tm (Claim ID: 351356 Membership Number: 309098) to attempt to break the record for most couples in a 24 hour period in a single location. The idea to challenge the record came when discussing ideas with her co- officiant, Diane Crawford, for hosting a unique, fun wedding event on 11-11-11, as they have found sequential dates are popular for couples planning a wedding. Stacey applied to the Guinness Book of World Records tm early summer 2011 and received approval a couple months later. Stacey did not tell anyone of the wedding event and record challenge, as she didn’t want to entice other groups to apply as well. Waiting until mid-September to make the announcement, Stacey asked for assistance from members of Tri-Cities Wedding Professionals Network, and was surprised at the number of vendors willing to donate services, time, discounts, and goodies to make this event a success. The number of couples to beat is 163 and was set in Singapore in 2009. With the Tri-Cities being so central to Seattle, Portland, Spokane and lots of cities surrounding them, the group feels they have a great chance at breaking this record!
