The Vows:
Welcome, family, friends and loved ones. We gather
here today to celebrate the wedding of Noland and
Sarah. We share in this commitment they make to one
another, offer our love and support, so they may
start their married life surrounded by the people
dearest and most important to them.
Noland, Sarah, the step which you are about to take
is the most important into which human beings can
take. It is a union of two people founded upon
mutual respect and affection. Your lives will
change, your responsibilities will increase, but
your joy will be multiplied if you are sincere and
earnest with your pledge to one another.
Noland, will you have this woman to be your wedded
wife, to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her,
forsaking all others, for so long as you both shall
live? [“I will.”]
Sarah, will you have this man to be your wedded
husband, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep
him, forsaking all others, for so long as you both
shall live? [“I will.”]
Please join hands.
Noland, please repeat after me: “I, Noland, take
you, Sarah, to be my wedded wife, to have and to
hold, for better for worse, for richer for poorer,
to love and to cherish, from this day forward.”
[Noland repeats]
Sarah, please repeat after me: I, Sarah, take you,
Noland, to be my wedded husband, to have and to
hold, for better for worse, for richer for poorer,
to love and to cherish, from this day forward.”
[Sarah repeats]
Noland, do you have a ring for the bride? [“I
do.”] Place this ring on your Sarah's finger and
say: ‘With this ring, I thee wed.’ [Noland slips
ring onto finger as he repeats]
Sarah, do you have a ring for the groom? [“I do.”]
Place this ring on your groom's finger and say:
‘With this ring I thee wed.’ [Sarah slips ring onto
finger as she repeats]
These eternal bands have been given and received as
a token of your affection, sincerity and fidelity to
one another. Let them be a daily reminder of your
love and your promise to one another.
By the power of your
love and commitment and the power vested in me, I
now pronounce you husband and wife! Noland, you may
kiss your bride.
Family and friends, I
present to you Mr. & Mrs. Loncosty!
